Is it cold at night?

The weather in the desert is very extreme. It is extremely hot in the day and extreme cold at night. So we recommend you to bring lighter dresses for the day, and heavier and warmer dresses for the night. The temperature may get lower at night by a minus. It becomes colder in the winter season. November, December, January, February is winter in the Sahara desert. We recommend all of our clients to bring a warm jacket, warm clothes, and medicines as per their needs. Kam Kam Dunes will provide them with basic warming clothes like a heavy blanket.

So, while the weather is very harsh during the day, you will actually feel very cold at night. We strongly advise our clients to be prepared for the sand storm, heavy wind, heavy raining though we provide them with basic necessary things. Electricity at Kam Kam Dunes is generated by solar panels. So it is quite impossible to provide the customers with Air condition (AC) or Electric Heater. Our tents are quite harsh, so the clients may need to adjust a little bit. Kam Kam Dunes team is always ready to serve its customers with the best service. If you want extra facilities, that will cost extra charges. Feel free to contact our Executive team to get the best experience and make your tour more adventurous. 

What should we wear when travelling at the desert?

Wondering what to wear in the desert? Here are some guides for that. The temperature of the desert area is different from any other area in the world.

There is extreme heat in the day and extreme cold at night. The temperature in the day may rise up to 50 degrees celcius, and at night the temperature reaches minus. As we generate our power with solar panels, it will be quite impossible for us to provide AC. So don’t bring anything which may create pressure on the solar power system.

For coping with this temperature, we recommend you bring and wear warm clothes for night and cooler clothes for the day so that, you don’t get ill and can enjoy your tour. Some nights on December may require a scarf and a jacket.

As you are on an adventurous tour in the desert, you may need boots for walking or any type of sensible shoe of your choice. As you will live in tents, winter pyjamas and winter socks can help you. If you bring a torchlight, it will be helpful in case of an emergency and to walk during the night. Hench for further inquiry, contact us without any hesitation.

Remember that depending the season and the day the weahter can change a lot, so we recommend to check the weather in advance to see what temperatures to expect.

Times and distances

Its always good to know the required time and distances beforehand to reach Kam Kam Dunes. We are ready to help you with transportation as per your demand. All you have to do is, just inform us and we will provide you a private driver with a 4WD car from wherever you want us to pick you up. This service is for all packages. If you want us to design your tour plan, we will make it for you. We will book your ride, hotel, and make your tour more adventurous.

Information on Time and Distances:

Marrakech to the Dades is about 5/7 hours of travelling by car. From Dades to Kam Kam Dunes (Merzouga) takes about 5 to 7 hours to reach. If you are from Marrakech, it will take about 8 to 10 hours to reach here. Or if you are from Fez, it will take about 6 to 8 hours to reach Merzouga (Kam Kam Dunes). To get this service, you need to contact our executives and ask them to make it for you. This extra service will charge you extra and it is not included with your camp night acommodation.
