Welcome to Kam Kam Dunes, a desert camp located in the most hidden area of the Sahara Desert of Erg Chebbi, in Merzouga.
Kam Kam Dunes replicates the original nomadic tents from the Bereber families. It seamlessly blends into the landscape of this Natural Area.
At the heart of the Sahara Desert of Morocco, the traveller is immersed in a stunning natural landscape. We are a nomadic camp equipped with eleven Haimas -traditional nomadic Berber tents- built with organic dromedary leather and handmade by local artisans.
Each tent has a private bathroom with hot water shower and possibility to accommodate two or three adults. Kam Kam Dunes are not only exclusive tents. The camp has a dining tent and a chill-out area with views over Erg Chebbi.

Kam Kam Dunes is located in a Natural Area of Special Interest, the Sahara Desert of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga. Our philosophy is based on respect for the environment and pride in the cultural and ecological heritage of Morocco. Thus, we take special care of the environmental impact of our activity, focusing on sustainability criteria to minimize the ecological footprint. We claim the simplicity of local products, supporting the ecological tourism and defending the flora and fauna of the area in which we are located.

The first initiative that helps us address our global impact on the planet and on our community is the Zero plastic waste: By the end of 2025 we aim to generate zero plastic waste, by exchanging all the plastic with biodegradable materials and eliminating single-use plastics. With this commitment, we aim to reduce the ecological footprint while continuing to implement sustainable initiatives through waste reduction.

WOW!! Dreamy. Epic. Thoughtful. Kind. This place is the real deal and the people are too. I celebrated my 50th birthday here which was bound to be a dream come true in the desert, but the good people of Kam Kam Dunes may have been the most memorable. They even got me a cake and sang happy birthday in 6 languages!! There are so many options for a stay in the desert but there is only one Kam Kam Dunes— the setting is private, the food is amazing, the amenities were so clean and comfortable you can almost forget you in the Sahara!! And the decor is just what you might have dreamed it would be—-this place is like out of a movie but it’s all so real and true… and you the star.

Very beautiful place on the dunes. We had an amazing and unforgettable experience in the desert thanks to KamKam dunes, that also organized a private quad tour (with sandboarding too) for us. The beautiful tent room was big, clean and comfy and the staff very lovely.

Overall fantastic experience. Lovely camp situated right on the dunes with comfortable beds and functional shower/toilet. The food we had at the camp was better than any of the meals we had in the cities!! Loved the camel ride, ATV, and music at night by the fire. There are no chargers in the tents themselves, but there is a main area with outlets near the kitchen for common use.
We are one of the few who booked our entire 9 day Morocco itinerary through KamKam, not just the dunes itself, so the remainder of this review is for that experience. We were a group of 8 with several senior members in our party so we were concerned about comfort. The team arranged for a fabulous luxury Mercedes travel van for the whole trip that could have fit 20 people, which made the drives very comfortable. Our tour guides Brahim and Moha were absolutely incredible, especially Brahim - he went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of every step of the way and even retrieved an item I had left behind in the camp and found a way to return it to me in Fez (8 hours away!) the very next day. I can't speak highly enough about their hospitality.
Overall we had a MAGNIFICENT experience. It is unbelievable what KamKam was able to arrange for such a competitive price. Whereas the 'white-glove', Euro-centric tour companies like Kensington charge $8-10k a person, we got a full 9 day experience in a luxury van with A+ hospitality, meals, hotels, and tours all arranged for less than $2k a person. It is an incredible, unrivaled value.
That being said, just wanted to offer some constructive feedback and things to be aware of for future travelers:
1. Pre-trip communication needs improvement. I often had to message repeatedly via whatsapp and email to confirm basic details. This added a layer of unneeded anxiety throughout the process, especially as I was planning this trip for 8 seniors where comfort was a priority. It all turned out WONDERFUL but just FYI.
2. Hotels: Overall we were very pleased with the tour company's selection which included several comfortable hotels (Xaluca Dades and Hotel Sahrai in Fez being absolute standouts - 5 star experiences). The only 'miss' was our riad in Marrakesh - while a nice change of pace from the hotels, it was out of the way - 15-20 minutes from the medina and nothing within walking distance - which made our short time in such a vibrant city feel a bit shortchanged.
3. Daily Itinerary: I very much appreciated KamKam arranging for local tour guides in each major city we visited. Only issue is that we didn't know any of this was happening until the morning of, so I had to cancel plans I had already made. The tour guides themselves, while nice, mainly steered us towards their friends' businesses rather than taking us to the main areas of the medina and it didn't feel very honest so we politely requested to end the tours early. I understand this is a common issue within Morocco, not KamKam's fault at all, but just FYI. It would have been nice to know this was being arranged in advance, and goes back to the first point about communication.
4. Meals: Many of our lunch stops were at tourist-friendly joints with pre-set meals. This meant we were limited to the same 4-5 items at every place with no option to order from a larger menu. With a group full of vegetarians, this was frequently an issue. We would have gladly paid extra to skip the pre-set menus and give our group more choice/variety but this wasn't an option.
Those are my only areas of constructive feedback. Overall we can't believe how incredible of an experience we had for such a competitive price and were blown away by the hospitality and care from the whole team. Cannot recommend highly enough!

We had the most wonderful time at Kam Kam Dunes near Merzouga. From the moment we arrived, we were looked after like royalty by the friendliest staff we encountered during our entire trip. The team here is not only professional but genuinely kind, warm, and attentive. You can truly feel that they put love and care into every aspect of their work.

I had a wonderful time at Kam Kam Dunes. The property was so beautiful and the location is right across from the dunes. My tent was so cute with a super comfy bed. I was surprised how good the food was, being out in the middle of the desert. It was an amazing stay in a spectacular location.

We had an unforgettable authentic Berber-living experience at Kamkam Dunes. The staff were very nice and accommodating. We loved how the camp was so close to the sand dunes. Our driver and guide Ibrahim was great and very friendly and patient! We enjoyed his company and knowledge about Morocco and the various places we visited along the road to and from Kamkam Dunes.

My husband, father in law and myself had the opportunity to live the 3-day experience (which was a mistake we should have done 5-days) and we had one of the best trips ever. The dunes, the environment, the staff but specially someone that made this experience amazing was Said (our tour guide), we had a lot of laughs, shared great conversations and we learned a lot from him!! I would recommend Kam Kam Dunes 1000% . Also, Laia was very helpful to adapt our needs to the trip and they made some changes in order to reach our flight back 🙂

We had an incredible time here during a girls trip. This is our first time ever in Morocco and Kam Kam Dunes was the highlight. Our guide, Mustafa is the best guide ever. His friendly and accommodating personality made the long road trip to the dessert super enjoyable. He is very thoughtful and always make sure we had a comfortable trip. It was a five star service from Mustafa. We got to visit multiple beautiful sightseeing locations on the way to the desert and Mustafa was a great guide in explaining about each place. We only did one night in the desert and it was a very comfortable stay in a camp. Our tents were luxurious and the site was beautiful with a stunning view of the desert. There were multiple activities available and we did camel ride. The scenery of the desert before sunset was unreal. We loved it despite the short time we had during the ride. The service of the staffs really made the stay an impressive experience. Everyone were polite and knowledgable. Highly recommend this tour to everyone. It was a very memorable trip in my life.

Our 4-day, 3-night trip with Kam Kam Dunes was exceptional! Starting in Fez and ending in Marrakech, the journey was well-organized and filled with unforgettable experiences. Said and Brahim, our driver and guide, were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making sure we felt at home in the Sahara Desert. Their knowledge of the area added a special touch to the trip. KamKam features authentic Berber tents, but with contemporary amenities. The drives in the dunes were fantastic. We also had a sunset camel ride which we really enjoyed. The food was great, but the best part of the experience was the music at night. A blend of Afropop ethereal music. Loved it

We had a lovely trip from Marrakech and stayed 2 nights in the camp. Everything was perfect. Hamid took good care of us and all of their staff were helpful, polite and very welcoming.
Tent is big enough and there are toilet and shower in the tent. Dinner was alright and we booked in advance a bottle of wine, it was not bad. The buffet lunch in the hotel was good also. We especially loved the Berber music in the evening.
I have to mention, their two dogs , Nara and rookie, are so cute and we bonded immediately. They escorted us to the camel walk and stayed with us all along. The morning we left, rookie ran after our car for a long time… it’s hard to say goodbye.
Sahara is magical and definitely the highlight of our trip. Our driver Said is a kind and honest guy, So we chose to keep him a little bit longer to bring us to Fez and then Chefchaouen and Rabat.

Laia our reservation manager was very responsive and attentive to our needs. In addition to this the staff at the Kam Kam Dunes were polite and went over and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Our driver provided clear and interesting explanations of the various sites we visited.
The location of the camp is outstanding. It is within minutes from the large Dunes. Our highlight was definitely the camel ride at sunset. It was absolutely spectacular sitting on the large dunes watching the sunset.
On the second day, we also had the opportunity to relax and unwind at a Kasbah with a pool overlooking the dunes. We also had lunch included. Overall great experience. I would definitely recommend!

If you are looking for a magical place, right next to the most impressive dunes, Kam Kam is the place to be. The incredible care of the team will make you feel right at home and you will be able to make the best of all the opportunities that are offered. Had an absolutely amazing experience at Kam Kam Dunes. Incredible experience from start to finish. The itinerary planned for the 2N stay was perfect — the traditional music soiree at night under the stars and sunset camel ride was nothing short of amazing. The camp location was stunning and further from other camps, making it feel more private and exclusive.
The tent was nice and cosy with amenities that you'd need: hot running water, toilet and shower. It was very well insulated with no AC, so it was a little bit too warm for my liking (I was here during Autumn). There isn't any power sockets in the tent but was readily available power socket are available in the main areas.
The star of the whole package has got to be both the camp staff (huge shout out to Yassin for making our stay comfortable!) and our driver Ghassan. The service of guys made the entire stay an incredible experience. We spent most of the planned activities with our driver Ghassan and he was nice, friendly and thoughtful - accommodated to our whims and even sharing recommendations!
I would highly recommend this experience for anyone coming to the desert.

Amazing accommodation roght at the edge of the dunes. The room itself was extremely cosy and comfortable. However, it was the service of guys at the camp that made the entire stay an incredible experience. Definitely recommend Kam Kam Dunes if your planning to stay around Erg Chebbi!

Absolutely incredible. Booked with Kam Kam Dunes as part of our honeymoon trip with driving service and lodging, the whole package. Our driver Mustafa was amazing - very knowledgeable and full of fun facts and generally an awesome guy to hang out with and travel around the desert area.
Once we were in the camp, Yassin was a DOLL. Camel ride at sunset, excellent dinner under the stars. We had the whole place to ourselves due to being late in the season (they close at the end of June because of summer heat) but Yassin and Mustafa and the rest of the staff still put on a bonfire and jam session. Yassin even made up a bed outside of our tent to sleep in if we wanted to (which we did, he basically read our minds.) The tents are very well insulated with no AC, wifi, or power sockets, but they do have heat and running water. Wifi and a power socket are available in the main areas, but I imagine that the socket is in high demand during the busy season.
Highly suggest booking with Kam Kam Dunes. Magnificent experience from start to finish.

I had an absolute blast here. This was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had. The staff was outstanding, from the meals to the accommodations, recommendations on things to do. They had the most amazing parties at night around the fire with the music. I would highly recommend this experience for anyone coming to the desert.

I feel like the photos of this place don’t do it justice. The large dunes are not just there, they are RIGHT there. Walking to the top of the closest one takes no more than 20 min or a 10 min camel ride. KamKam really is IN the desert. No better place to spend your time in the area, imho. The price seems steep but it winds up being a good deal as breakfast and dinner are included, there is a private shower and toilet in each room, the general facilities are amazing, there is a fire and live music at night, and the camel rides are very reasonable. I would highly recommend this place to anyone considering seeing an actual sandy desert. So, so worth it! (The photos here are of the dunes right at camp, 20 min leisurely walk to the top)

We did a 3 night tour with KamKam Dunes from Marrakesh into the desert and on to Fes, spending two nights at the Kam Kam desert camp. The tour was great. Our driver (Said) and tour guide (Brahim) were perfect -- they were both very entertaining and kind. Said was an excellent driver. The desert camp was beautiful. We highly recommend this experience!

Incredible camp in very close walking distance to a large dune.
The camp is beautifully designed and offers great views of the dunes.
The tents are super luxurious and even heated in the winter so you feel very comfortable!
Dinner was very good with large portions as well :-)!

We booked a 4-day tour from Marrakech and loved the experience. Very good trip driver and guide, excellent meals, well curated activities&amenities, besides that incredible landscape surrounding us.
I’d recommend to ask them before arriving, info about all the range of the extra experiences that they offer during the stay, and plan them in advance…there are a lot of things to discover out there. Can’t wait to come back!

This is truly an amazing experience ! I’ve done the desert in Wadi Rum, Jordan in the past but the Sahara is something else! I really recommend this camping site for your stay. The staff is incredibly helpful and are there to make you happy and enjoy your time. We really want to thank Ikhlef and Houssain for how well they treated us and made us feel like home.

We did a 2 night desert camp trip. Great experience! The manager and all staff are very hospitable. The food is great too! Our guide was Abraham, a lovely young man born in the desert. He shared his desert culture with us and showed us around his hometown. Many thanks to all staff of Kam Kam Dunes!!

KamKam Dunes was one of the best experiences of our lives! We booked with KamKam after a recommendation from a friend, and we are so glad we did. The camp is stunning, clean, and beautifully designed. The food was amazing. And best of all, the staff and guides were just incredible - so polite and knowledgable. Highly recommend!

The service was perfect from end to end. Our guide was Abraham, he was lovely. He was born and raised in the desert, and then he shared with us his knowledge and explained his traditions, culture and the importance of the desert, camels, tea and etc. for the Berbers. We loved it!

kamkam camp makes you feel in the real desert and at home at the same time. Everything from the tent (one of the few camps with no plastic tent) to the carpets on the ground to the fantastic people that work there makes you discover the desert in the most authentic way. On top of that the hospitality and care for the guest are at the highest level. During the day there is a wide choice of different activities to meet everyone’s taste.
At night a great dinner followed by traditional music around the campfire and star glazing reconnects you with nature and Berber traditions.

From the moment we were picked up in Fez it was incredible. Start to finish was absolutely amazing. The tent itself was luxury, camp area was beautiful and the experiences were unlike anything else.
Moustafa (the driver) made the trip something we will never forget. I cannot recommend KamKam Dunes enough. I will recommend this experience to every single person I know coming to visit Morocco. Our trip to Morocco would not have been complete without this experience

Thank you kam kam for such an incredible stay. Moustafa, from the lodge, made our honeymoon unforgettable with a surprise snacks and drinks table set up in the dunes! Mustafa our driver was incredible! We loved our trip, everything was organized for us and the staff went out of their way to make us happy.

Kam Kam Dunes is just overall surreal! Hot water, toilet, electricity, heat, and a tent fit for a king! Hussein and Mustafa were EXCELLENT! The staff everyone went out of there way to make my two nights nothing but PERFECT! They even ran an electrical outlet into my tent for my CPAP machine to sleep with. Mind you this is in the middle of the desert! Don't walk but ride your camel FAST to Kam Kam Dunes camp!

I had the pleasure of working with Enric with KamKam dunes to arrange my elopement and 10 day tour of Morocco. The entire trip, from start to finish, was the absolute best trip I have ever been on, but I do want to mention a few things that really stood out. First was our driver Hamid Freksche. From the second we met him, he just went above and beyond anything we could have ever asked for. We just don't see service like this in the states, so we were blown away by how kind, knowledgeable and accommodating Hamid was. By the time the trip was over, he felt more like a friend than just our driver. It was incredibly hard to say goodbye - and we honestly wished we could take him back with us!
As for our stay at KamKam, I honestly struggle to put into words how amazing our experience was. The tents were awesome, the food was plentiful (and delicious), the service was unbeatable and the landscape was breath taking. The staff was so incredibly welcoming and treated us more like old friends rather than guests. Honestly, our biggest regret of the whole trip was only staying for 2 nights! If I ever get a chance to go back to Morocco, you can bet we will be staying at KamKam again. Special thanks to Hamid, Mustafa and Mustafa (yes there are two) for spending extra time on making our elopement photoshoot absolutely unforgettable. We already have our group photo hanging in our living room to remind us of our time spent in Morocco with some truly amazing friends.

KamKam is an exceptional place. The setting in the dunes is stunning. The decoration of the camp is very tastefully done (worth noting that this is one of the few camps that was built in the traditional berber style rather than plastic!). The staff was very attentive and welcoming (shout out to the very talented Mostafa in particular). And the food was delicious and very diverse (not just the traditional tajines and couscous). We spent a memorable 2 days at KamKam as a family of 5 adults (between the age of 30 to 70) and can't recommend this place enough. Go see for yourself!!

Kam Kam Dunes is a dream in the Sahara Desert. We took a family trip to Morocco with our 4 adult children. Everything I read said camping in the desert was a must do, and they were absolutely right. We did the 4 day/3 night trip from Fes to Marrakech with 2 nights at the camp.
From the communication before booking all the way through the end of our trip, Kam Kam's staff was responsive and fabulous. We visited at the end of May 2021, right when travel was reopening, so there were very few tourists in Morocco. We had the entire camp at Kam Kam to ourselves. It was amazing! We booked three double rooms, and when we arrived they had upgraded my husband and I to a suite.... wow is all I can say.
Our driver, Yidir, was very kind and provided a lot of great information about Morocco, each location along our drive, and everything else we could want. We came across wild monkeys on the drive and he stopped so we could see them - it was one of the highlights of the trip! Yidir ensured we were well fed, hydrated and prepared for each day. He was a very safe driver, and took care of us like family.
The camp itself is unlike anything we've ever experienced. Having a toilet and shower in each room was a true luxury and part of the reason I booked Kam Kam. The food was delicious and abundant. We enjoyed sandboarding, a sunrise camel ride (you know it was great if my young adults woke up at 5am and didn't complain), and even an ATV excursion in the dunes.
I cannot say enough about Kam Kam Dunes. Our time in the desert will be a lifelong memory for our family, if only it could've lasted longer.

We absolutely loved our stay at Kam Kam Dunes. The owner was super responsive and helpful as we planned our trip and then every single member of the team on the ground (from Hamid our driver to Mustapha our host) was wonderful.
We did two nights and one full day in the desert camp but wish we had stayed longer. The 'rooms' are beautiful and well-equipped, the restaurant tent served incredible food (all delicious and lots of it), and the lounge areas around the camp were comfortable and serene. Everything was actually better in real life than it looked in the photos (if you can believe it!).
And of course the vastness and quietness of the Sahara desert was a magical thing to experience. We wish we had stayed another day and night at least!

Outstanding. Magic place. 20 min off road 4x4 ride to the desert. Cool decor, all comfort, reduced electricity for charging stuff but full WiFi and hot water. Camel rides at sunset and wine bottle with dinner. Staff very friendly. Highly recommend!

We did the private tour for four people for three days and two nights. Everything was better than what I anticipated. Everything happened like it said it would in a timely manner and the staff is incredible. Would definitely recommend to anyone!

Best place to stay in the Sahara desert. Staff, location, deco, the process to book the tours is so easy and the information provided from the responsible was top! I will come back for sure, had the best holidays ever
